CPS joined city partners and more than 75 Brentano Elementary students to celebrate Crossing Guard Appreciation Month and launch an accompanying public safety campaign to highlight the importance of crossing guard and student safety Monday.
Crossing Guard Appreciation Month is a partnership between CPS, the Mayor’s Office, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) and the Chicago Department of Transportation. Through this partnership, city entitles are jointly launching the “Stay Alert, Don’t Get Hurt” public safety campaign aimed at keeping students and crossing guards safe under the City’s Vision Zero Plan.
Students presented handmade thank-you cards to the crossing guards in attendance.
